DCR-DNH data management specialist Rhonda Houser in the old-growth eastern hemlock - hardwood forest at Limberlost, Shenandoah National Park (Madison County).  The photo was taken in August 2000, as the magnificent overstory hemlocks were dying, but still alive, following progressive defoliation by hemlock woolly adelgid.
