Coastal Plain / Outer Piedmont Acidic Seepage Swamp – CEGL006238
A narrow swale, constantly saturated with groundwater, supports a seepage swamp surrounded by frequently burned upland forest in the Fort A.P. Hill controlled access training area, Caroline County.  The constantly wet conditions in the swamp largely protect the vegetation from fire.
