Coastal Plain / Outer Piedmont Acidic Seepage Swamp – CEGL006238
Northern long sedge (Carex folliculata, in foreground) in a sphagnous, acidic seepage swamp along Cattlet Creek at Fort A.P. Hill Military Reservation in Caroline County.  With its sandy soils, moderate relief, and large groundwater aquifers, the western portion of this military base has one of the highest concentrations of high-quality acidic seepage swamps in the state.
