Northern Coastal Plain / Piedmont Oak - Beech / Heath Forest – CEGL006919
Although mountain-laurel is most characteristic, occasionally great rhododendron (Rhododendron maximum) is the dominant heath in oak-beech/heath forests. This is one of a very few stands in the Virginia Coastal Plain where the rhododendron occurs. On northwest-facing bluff along Snow Creek near the Rappahannock River, Caroline County.
