Coastal Plain / Piedmont Floodplain Swamp (Green Ash - Red Maple Type) – CEGL006606
In much of the Northern Coastal Plain, larger streams are tidal and bald cypress and tupelos are absent.  The wettest swamps along the smaller streams are typically dominated by red maple (Acer rubrum) and green ash (Fraxinus americana), with lizard's-tail (Saururus cernuus) and other hydrophytic herbs.  This stand occurs along a tributary of Big Meadow Run at Westmoreland State Park in Westmoreland County.
