Coastal Plain Bottomland Forest (Brownwater Low Terrace Type) < CEGL007397

Water hickory (Carya aquatica, right), oaks, and some water tupelo (Nyssa aquatica) on a low terrace along the Blackwater River in the Dendron Swamp State Natural Area Preserve, Sussex County.  The dominant graminoids are catchfly cutgrass (Leersia lenticularis) and Louisiana sedge (Carex louisianica).
