Northern Hardpan Basic Oak - Hickory Forest – CEGL006216

The Northern Hardpan Basic Oak - Hickory Forest has been much reduced by the outward growth of development in the northern Virginia portion of the greater Washington, D.C. area.  However, approximately 1,000 acres of this community type in western Fairfax County has been protected by the Fairfax County Park Authority in the Sully Woodlands Preserve and Elklick Woodlands State Natural Area Preserve.
