Northern Hardpan Basic Oak - Hickory Forest - CEGL006216

Another view of the very bouldery, basic oak-hickory forest on diabase slopes along Cub Run, west of Centerville in Fairfax County. As of 2017, the sizeable component of white ash (Fraxinus americana) in this forest is suffering extensive mortality from an Emerald Ash Borer infestation, creating large canopy gaps.
