Eastern redbud (Cercis canadensis var. canadensis, with pink flowers) is a conspicuous understory tree in most basic oak-hickory forests.  Western slope of the Watery Mountains below Halls Point, Fauquier County.  Wildcat Mountain Natural Area (The Nature Conservancy).
