Bald Cypress - Mixed Tupelo Intermediate Swamp – CEGL007432
A mixed stand of water tupelo (Nyssa aquatica), swamp tupelo (Nyssa biflora), and swamp cottonwood (Populus heterophylla) along a tributary of the Northwest River near Benefit, City of Chesapeake.  This type of swamp is widespread in southeastern Virginia, and its habitats are intermediate between the "brownwater" and "blackwater" bottomland classes.  The Nature Conservancy Benefit Preserve.
