Bald Cypress - Water Tupelo Brownwater Swamp – CEGL007431

Water tupelos (Nyssa aquatica) are tenacious, long-lived trees.  The buttressed base of this old specimen has partly rotted away, but the tree is still capable of vigorous crown growth.  Cypress Bridge State Natural Area Preserve, Nottoway River, Southampton County.
