Bald Cypress - Water Tupelo Brownwater Swamp – CEGL007431

Big-tree hunter Byron Carmean and DCR-DNH field ecologist Kristin Taverna admire a fantastically gnarled, old-growth water tupelo (Nyssa aquatica) at Cypress Bridge State Natural Area Preserve in Southampton County.  This tree had its crown blown off long ago, but regenerated new leaders.
