Central Appalachian Pitch Pine Bog – CEGL007056
DCR-DNH ecology technician Kadrin Anderson examines low shrub vegetation of a Central Appalachian Pitch Pine Bog in Potts Cove, on the southeastern flank of Potts Mountain in Craig County. All pitch pine bogs in Virginia show evidence of past fires, and periodic burning appears to be an important factor in reducing shrub invasion.  Eastern Divide Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
