Central Appalachian / High Allegheny Seepage Bog – CEGL008534

Early-spring aspect of the Buck Run Bog on Allegheny Mountain in Highland County.  Basal leaves of bog goldenrod (Solidago uliginosa var. uliginosa) are emerging abundantly, while a few red spruce (Picea rubens) saplings have managed to become established in the unstable peat.  Warm Springs Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
