Piedmont Acidic Oak - Hickory Forest – CEGL008475

The Piedmont Acidic Oak - Hickory Forest community type occasionally ranges into the Coastal Plain, and may have been more common there prior to widespread post-settlement disturbances.  Here, large northern red oak (Quercus rubra) and white oak (Quercus alba) dominate a stand above Goldenvale Creek at Fort A.P. Hill Military Reservation, Caroline County.
