It’s called nonpoint source pollution, and it’s the biggest threat to water quality in the streams and rivers of our state today. This kind of water pollution is difficult to see because it does not come from a single source, however every day it accumulates until rain flushes it into our streams and rivers. We all contribute to it when we drive a car that leaks motor oil onto the pavement, when we put too much fertilizer on our soil, when we asphalt the land, or when we allow bare soil to wash into our streams after a hard rain.
NPS pollution is something we create every day. It's time to start cleaning it up and working to prevent it.
