The Adventure Begins
The experience
The Parks and Trails Passport Program offers outdoor enthusiasts a great chance to enjoy the adventure and bounty of nature – see wildlife, smell the wildflowers and experience truly fulfilling recreation.
How it works
The program covers seven venues, or groups of parks, that have similar offerings to share. Some parks are in more than one venue. What’s great about the program is that you need visit only one park to receive credit for all the venues associated with that park. Once you have visited all the parks, and have had your passport stamped by each park in a given venue, you’ll get a corresponding hatpin. Do the same for each venue and collect more pins. If you manage to visit all 33 parks, you’ll get a t-shirt honoring the commendable accomplishment. Complete at least one trail in all 33 parks and we’ll throw in a hiking stick medallion to boot! After visiting each park, have a stamp affixed to your passport by an employee at the visitor center, contact station or other designated area. After hiking a trail, signify completion by initialing the appropriate space.Once you’ve covered a given venue, fill out the top section and remove the appropriate acknowledgement form (tear-out) and present it with your passport to any park office. After a park official verifies that you have satisfied the venue requirements, he or she will fax a copy to headquarters and, in about two weeks, you’ll receive the hatpin, t-shirt or hiking medallion. Well done, mission accomplished!
