Virginia State Park campgrounds are moving to a hybrid reservation system. Until recently, customers were able to reserve sites but not specific sites. They simply selected a site when they got to the park. Based on customer feedback, more specific campsites at more parks may now be reserved up to 11 months before arrival by customers for next year's camping season, which starts in March 2017.
The six parks already offering specific site rentals will add spots, and two state parks - Bear Creek Lake and Holliday Lake - will be added to the mix. All state parks with developed campgrounds will offer specific-campsite reservations for arrivals starting in March 2018. (Details will be added to this page prior to April 2017.) The six parks that originally offered specific campsite rentals will, of course, continue to do so for the 2016 camping season.
