Christmas Bird Count

park locationWhere

Lake Anna State Park, 6800 Lawyers Rd., Spotsylvania, VA 22551. Visitor Center.

When

January 5, 2019. 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

As winter weather approaches and food becomes scarce, birds start to make their way south. Join the rangers as we scan the skies, identify calls and even snap a few photos of the wide variety of birds that take refuge on the shores and waterways of Lake Anna.

We will fan out into the park after we meet. We'll all meet again at the Visitor Center to share our findings. Fresh coffee, cocoa, and hot cider will be on hand to warm and welcome our birders.

The event is open to everyone, whether you're a beginning bird watcher or an expert. You can contribute to the Audubon Society's annual Christmas Bird Count. It's free, fun, and easy...and it helps the birds.
