Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Apple Day: A Celebration of Appalachian Heritage and Arts and Crafts Fair

Fall is upon us and there is no better way to kick-off the season then by joining us for the 21st Annual Apple Day Celebration. The celebration will feature traditional Appalachian arts and crafts and demonstrations. We will be cooking up some delicious homemade apple butter so stop by and take your turn stirring the kettle. Watch and learn about apple farming, white oak basket weaving, blacksmithing and more.

Enjoy fall foliage on a hay wagon ride. Play children's games from years ago, pick out a pumpkin to carve, milk a cow, churn cream into butter, see how corn husk dolls are made and even more.

Entertainment by Crimson River, High Voltage Cloggers, The McKensies and Virginia Fast. Great food will be available so don't miss the Pig Roast Dinner, Brunswick Stew and more. While there is a parking fee, entry is free!
