Great Backyard Bird Count

Location: Meet at Trailhead Parking Area
Description: Do you like participanting in citizen science projects, get outdoors or have an interest in bird watching? Well, this guided birding program allows you to do all three! Join a park ranger and guest birding guides, Darleen Stigall and John and Caroline Coe, for an early morning bird count. This event is in connection with Cornell University's Great Backyard Bird Count. The data collected from this program will be used to monitor the abundance of bird species, locally and globally. Everyone is welcome -- from beginning bird watchers to experts. This is a great activity for family and friends! It's free (parking fees apply), fun and easy and it helps the birds. For more information about the Great Backyard Bird Count, please visit .Directions to Trailhead Parking Area: Continue past the Park Office, playground and E. Floyd Yates Conservation Area. The Trailhead parking Area is a gravel parking lot to the left of where the paved portion of Powhatan State Road ends. Please register by contacting the front office.
