Twin Lakes State Park is are looking for a few good ghouls to volunteer their help so we can make this the best Haunting on the Lake, we also need witches, zombies, and more...

Volunteers needed for Twin Lakes State Park's annual festival

It begins like most nightmares

You find yourself in the middle of nowhere with only a glint of moonlight to show you the way. The slow sway of the undead welcomes you to the trail of terror, your heart paced for racing only a few footfalls through the dark unknown, these vignettes of vampires feasting on the veins of victims, of covens of witches screeching incantations into curdling cauldrons, of masked madmen marching through the mayhem.

This is no nightmare, though; it’s just a taste of the frights that await you at the Sixth Annual Haunting on the Lake at Twin Lakes State Park. And if all this alliteration hasn’t scared you yet, just wait until you meet our Lady of the Lake!)

Volunteering for Twin Lakes State Park's festival is a blast!

We're looking for a few good ghouls to volunteer for the 6th Annual Haunting on the Lake

All volunteers are welcome

We need volunteers as actors and makeup artists to carpenters and trail guides, and no experience is necessary just a good attitude and a decent pair of hiking shoes.

While the festivities will take place Friday, October 23, 2015 and Saturday, October 24, 2015, we generally begin working on the trail, props, and scenes in the two weeks leading up to the event. So, even if you can’t make it that weekend, there are still opportunities to help us out.

Please contact the park office at (434) 392-3435 or email here, if you are interested in volunteering or have any questions. Note: This is a great opportunity for local school groups (high school & collegiate clubs) to earn some hours volunteering.

Haunting on the Lake schedule at Twin Lakes State Park

Friday and Saturday: The first trail hikes typically begin just prior to dusk and the horror intensifies as the night wears on. The final walk will leave around 10:00 p.m. each night.

Saturday:  4:00 p.m. Trick or Treat parade through the campground and a Campground Decoration contest. Pumpkin patch and family-oriented activities start at roughly 5:00 p.m. each night. There will be face-painting, bouncy castles, pumpkin picking/painting, ghost stories by a bonfire, plus many other fun things to scare up some fun.

Campground Special: 25% discount on a two-night camping reservation Friday and Saturday night 10/23/15 & 10/24/15 for those willing to participate in the decoration contest and hand out candy during Saturday’s parade of trick-or-treaters.
