Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

In this edition of totally random photos from Virginia State Parks I wanted to highlight something that happens every day at every state park, a sunrise and a sunset. I read recently that the sun is a perfect analogy for hope, you mostly don't know what, why or how, but you can set your clock by it, every night the sun sets and every morning it appears again on the horizon. We are guaranteed a fresh new day every 24 hours.

The best way I have found to share in this daily dose of hope is to spend it with the ones I love at a Virginia State Park.

Virginia State Parks is all about family, friends and fun

Whether you're after a relaxing picnic or a weeklong vacation, leave life's daily pressures behind and reconnect with nature and your friends and family at a Virginia State Park.
