Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Three Virginia State Parks Receive Readers' Choice Awards!
The people have spoken and we're glad they did
This week Caledon State Park and Lake Anna State Park were chosen as finalists for the Best Hiking Trails and Lake Anna State Park and Westmoreland State Park were both chosen as finalists for Best Public Park in a recent Readers' Choice survey done by the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star.

With the diversity of trails and park amenities it is understandable why all three parks, that are just a short distance from Fredericksburg are on the list for the Readers' Choice Awards.
Lake Anna State Park offers 15+ miles of trails that range from easy to difficult, Caledon State Park has old growth hardwood forests and Westmoreland State Park gives you incredible access to the Potomac River, views from atop the bluffs, a fossil beach and all make for superior scenic adventures for the whole family.

All three Virginia State Parks have multi-use trails for hikers and cyclists. Lake Anna State Park even offers equestrian trails with very convenient horse trailer parking.
If you would like to plan an overnight trip to the great outdoors may we recommend Lake Anna State Park and Westmoreland State Park for great camping and cabin stays. Or if you are feeling a little more adventurous, Caledon State Park has an exciting fairly new paddle-in primitive campground.
