Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Enjoy the most beautiful setting as the leaves change at Westmoreland State Park
This two day workshop will be taught by Susan Strauss at Westmoreland State Park located along the shores of the beautiful Potomac River during peak leaf season, October 27-28, 2016.
Susan is recognized internationally as a storyteller of natural history performances combining mythic/traditional story with personal anecdote and scientific information to provoke an experience of natural archetypes -- on themes such as birds, bears, water, wolves, trees & plants and marine life.
Susan Strauss is a natural history author and storyteller
She has given storytelling performances and training workshops for the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Botanical Gardens throughout the UK and Australia as well as conferences for soil, tree and wildlife scientists.
Susan captivates her listeners with her storytelling
The cost per person is $240 without lodging, with lunch each day, or $300 with two nights of lodging, with lunch each day. Lodging will be in state park cabins, and you will be sharing a cabin with another participant.
Camping is available as well. If you are going to camp rather than stay in a cabin then regular camping rates apply, then you’d pay the $240 fee plus your camping fees.
