Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

High Bridge Trail State Park is hosting the 6th Annual National Trails Day 5k Run for Your Life race from Camp Paradise across the historic High Bridge on Saturday, June 4, 2016.

Run for Your Life - Saturday, June 4, 2016 8 to 10 a.m.

Run for Your Life is a great way to spend the morning with your family, enjoying the great views and habitat that lives along High Bridge Trail. The race begins at 8 a.m. and will conclude about 10 a.m. or when the last person crosses the finish line.

Registration before May 20th is $20.  After May 20th the fee is $25.  For more information on the event click here. Make sure that you are one of the first 200 people to enter so that you will be guaranteed a spot in the lineup and a great race goodie bag.

There are several race categories with the top overall male & female winners receiving a free weekend stay at their favorite Virginia State Parks.

Thanks to our partners for helping with this exciting event Centra Southside Community HospitalSouthside Virginia Family YMCA, and Friends of High Bridge Trail State Park. Proceeds from the race will benefit that Friends group in supporting High Bridge Trail with various program and projects.

High Bridge Trail is an old Norfolk & Southern rail bed that has been converted into a fantastic trail that offers a wide, level surface with little or no grade. For directions to Camp Paradise Parking Lot, click here.
