Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

We are excited to announce the 2017 summer season of great outdoor entertainment at Pocahontas State Park.

This year Pocahontas Premieres will feature a full season of great performances for our park visitors to enjoy. As always we will have a variety of music genres with concerts, movies under the stars and even live theater.

September 23 catch Pocahontas State Park’s first rock-fest featuring the K.O.D.E. The K.O.D.E is a party on stage, and they will join the audience, so be prepared for a ton of fun. They perform Southern rock, classic rock, glam rock and new metal.

Other bands to perform are Dividing Face and No One Hero. Gates open at 4 p.m.; music starts at 5:30 p.m. Food and adult beverages available for purchase. Tickets just $12, plus parking fee. More info here, or buy your tickets online here.

  8. Appetite for Destruction – Saturday, August 12 - 7 p.m.
  9. Richmond Jazz Band – Saturday, September 3 - 7 p.m.
  10. ZOSO the Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience – Saturday, September 16 – 7 p.m.
  11. K.O.D.E. – Saturday, September 23 - 5:30 p.m.

HERITAGE AMPHITHEATER

Pocahontas Premieres takes place outside at the park’s centrally located Heritage Amphitheater. This historic structure offers visitors a unique outdoor experience where you can sit on a blanket or lawn chair, and feel the night breeze and listen to the rhythm of a live band, or watch a family friendly movie together under the stars. All events will be held rain or shine.

If you want to spend more time at this beautiful Virginia State Park, consider staying with us in a new yurt, or bring your own tent or RV to camp in the campground.
