Our annual Holiday Open House kicks off holiday-themed house tours throughout the month of December. Bring your family and friends out for a festive start to the season on Thanksgiving weekend.

On this special Saturday costumed interpreters reveal how residents of Sky Meadows State Park celebrated the holidays through the centuries.

  1. Smell the aroma of holiday treats cooking on the hearth as you visit the Log Cabin for a colonial Christmas.
  2. In our Wash House, you will learn how the enslaved observed a pre-Civil War Christmas.
  3. Experience the holidays between the 1860s and 1940s by walking through Mount Bleak House, each room will illustrate a different time period.

Holiday Open House features the music of Madeline MacNeil in the parlor of our historic Mount Bleak House from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.Madeline MacNeil at Sky Meadows State Park, Virginia

Madeline MacNeil loves interacting with children as well as adults

Madeline’s beautiful renditions of classic carols and folk music warm the soul as she sings and plays mountain and hammered dulcimers.

As she performs she welcomes children and adults to take part, making her performances one of a kind. Madeline is happiest with a group of wide-eyed children gathered around experiencing the music of Northern Virginia. Come listen, sing, and be a part of this musical treat. Learn more about Madeline MacNeil's special music here on her website.
