Have you ever seen the look on a child’s face when they catch their first fish? It’s pure joy. Bring a child to the Children’s Fishing Clinic at Fairy Stone State Park on Saturday, June 11, 2016 and see for yourself.

Take a child fishing for an unforgettable experience at Virginia State Parks

Catching that first fish is an unforgettable experience

The fishing fun will begin at 9:00 a.m.for children ages 4 -12. Participants will learn skills such as knot-tying, casting and basic water safety. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the event, which will end at noon.

After taking their turn at the various skill stations, children will have a chance to put their newfound skills to use in an actual pond fishing situation.

At the conclusion of the activities, prizes will be awarded. A morning full of learning and fishing is sure to whet young appetites, so lunch will be provided too.

June 11 is also National Get Outdoors Day, so celebrate the day by bringing the whole family out for a day in the park. After the event, enjoy the beach, rent a paddleboat, or go on a fairy stone hunt.
