Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Run, walk or wobble at the 3rd annual Gobble Wobble 5K Run

Join the Friends of Westmoreland State Park in celebration of fall. It’s also a great way to burn off of few calories right before your Thanksgiving fest! The race will be held on the trails and roads within the park. The part of the 5K run trail will follow Turkey Neck Trail and Rock Spring Pond Trail, two of the most scenic areas in the park. Trails are considered moderate in difficulty.

Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each division.

13-17

18-29

30-39

40-49

50+

Registration fees: $15 for now and $20 on race day, to register please click here. Check-In and Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. at the Visitor Center. The race will start at 9:00 a.m. 

Please note, sorry but strollers are not permitted due to the width and terrain of the trails. But please if you have little ones, be sure to stay after for our TOT TROT (a short race for those 6 & under).

Great way to spend a fall day At Westmoreland State Park, VirginiaDon't want to run, walking and talking with friends is always fun!

Give yourself some extra time to also enjoy the park while you are there, fall is the perfect time of year to explore. Picnic tables can be found along the beach and other locations throughout the park. And of course the always popular fossil hunting is just a short hike to fossil beach.

Interested in volunteering but not running? Then, come out to the park and meet some of our volunteers with the Friends of Westmoreland, a citizen support organization. You could make a difference in your community and have fun while doing it.
