Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

For the 5th year Virginia State Parks invites you to turn Black Friday into Green Friday by spending time in nature instead of shopping until you drop. This year retailer REI is closing all its stores and paying their staff to #OptOutside on Black Friday. We applaud REI's bold initiative and decided to sweeten the pot a little on our end with a challenge.

Virginia State Parks (November 29, 2015 01:07:54 AM):

Was your picture taken in a Virginia State Park? I have disqualified a number that have not been. While we applaud all outdoor recreation our contest specified the photos be taken in a Virginia State Park. I disqualified one photo that the person who submitted it marked that it was taken prior to the contest period. If you email me the name you entered it under I can provide the specifics. Paul (November 28, 2015 11:24:49 PM): ... seems like my photo got removed without explanation. Would be kinda nice to be notified why on the off chance that one of the many #OptOutside photos could qualify ...

Linja (November 27, 2015 08:22:07 PM): June, there is a link above to this page: http://review.wizehive.com/contests/black-friday-optoutside-photo-challenge

Virginia State Parks (November 24, 2015 12:31:07 PM): You post on the contest site. It won't be active until Thursday morning since you can't enter pictures taken before then.

June (November 24, 2015 11:46:04 AM): I am unclear where to post the pictures. Which website do we post our pictures?
