Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Are we really mind blowing?

By Shellie AnnePosted November 28, 2015

I was so excited to see the article "These 26 Mind-Blowing Sceneries Totally Define Virginia" in my Virginia State Parks Facebook feed today. How could I not click on a title like that?

If you are like me, you love all things Virginia, so when someone puts together an article touting "Virginia Sceneries" like this one, you will open the link, just to see what they shared. I know this website posts articles from someone probably just gleaning top lists from Trip Advisor and Flickr, but I still click.

And there it was, two Virginia State Parks in this list of "26 Mind-Blowing Sceneries that Totally Define Virginia." Well one is not officially operating as a Virginia State Park yet, but was donated last year and will be in 2016, Natural Bridge.

Scenic Hungry Mother State Park, Virginia in the FallHungry Mother State Park puts on quite a fall show

The other featured photo (above) was taken at Claytor Lake State Park, and I have to point out that the writer shared other great lakes in Virginia, and would you believe it, we also have state parks on those other great bodies of water:

Excerpt "As one of Virginia’s many beautiful lakes, Claytor Lake is located at Claytor Lake State Park in Dublin. Other popular lakes include Lake Anna, Smith Mountain Lake and the Kerr Reservoir (Buggs Island Lake), among many others."

"Among many others" would be:

Douthat State Park, Fairy Stone State Park, Hungry Mother State Park, Holliday Lake State Park, Twin Lakes State Park, Bear Creek Lake State Park

Not all photos taken at Natural Bridge State Park, Virginia are of the bridge, like this scenic view of the Blue Ridge MountainsNatural Bridge also offers beautiful views like this of the Blue Ridge Mountains

So I have to ask, would you agree with the list and the writer's title of "Mind Blowing Sceneries?" If not, I encourage you to find some of your own, there is one thing the author got right in this article, Virginia will knock your socks off!
