Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

A Brush of Nature at Twin Lakes State Park
Shared by Hannah Grady, Marketing Intern, as Guest Blogger.
Come with nothing but leave with a masterpiece from Twin Lake State Park.
A masterpiece produced during a recent Brush of Nature program
Part of my duties as a marketing intern for the state parks in Central Virginia is taking photographs of events and programs and writing blogs about different topics. So, today I decided to write about one of my favorite programs that I have attended so far.
During a recent visit to Twin Lakes State Park, I attended their Brush of Nature program and it quickly became one of my favorites. A Brush of Nature is a program where you learn how to paint with only materials from nature. The paints are made from mud and the paint brushes are made from plants. All participants are able to make their very own paintbrush and even take it home with them.

Participants were not only able to leave with a piece of art, but they also left with more knowledge on the history of using natural things for paint. I believe that the best part of this program was having the freedom to create your very own masterpiece.
