Westmoreland State Park master plan to be discussed June 22
RICHMOND, Va. — A public meeting to discuss long-range planning for
Westmoreland State Park will be June 22, 6 p.m., at the Westmoreland State Park Visitor Center, 145 Cliff Road, Montross.
Staff with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will provide an overview of proposed updates to the park’s master plan.
Each state park has a master plan that guides development. Plans are updated every 10 years.
“Master plans outline the desired future condition for a park when it is fully developed,” said DCR park planner Bill Conkle. “We welcome public input in the planning process.”
The draft master plan for Westmoreland State Park proposes renovation of cabins and campgrounds, construction of additional cabins, shoreline and cliff stabilization, an expanded fishing pier, and the renovation or relocation of the swimming pool.
The 1,321-acre park is situated on the Potomac River in Westmoreland County.
Written comments about this master plan update will be accepted through July 22. Written comments should be submitted to
bill.conkle@dcr.virginia.gov.
