York River State Park master plan to be discussed July 7
RICHMOND — A public meeting to discuss long-range planning for York River State Park will be July 7, 6 p.m., at the James City County Library, located at 7770 Croaker Road, Williamsburg.
Staff with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will provide an overview of proposed updates to the park’s master plan.
Each state park has a master plan that guides development. Plans are updated every 10 years.
“Master plans outline the desired future condition for a park when it is fully developed,” said DCR Park Planner Bill Conkle. “We welcome public input in the planning process.”
The draft master plan for York River State Park proposes construction of a new park office and welcome center, a redesigned visitor center with new exhibits, a campground, an overnight educational facility and trail improvements.
The 2,531-acre park is situated on the York River in James City County.
Written comments about this master plan update will be accepted through Aug. 7. Written comments should be submitted to bill.conkle@dcr.virginia.gov.
