Savage Neck Dunes preserve to close weekdays Nov. 3-Dec. 19
RICHMOND —
Savage Neck Dunes Natural Area Preserve on Virginia’s Eastern Shore will be closed to visitors most weekdays from Nov. 3 through Dec. 19 for managed deer hunts. The preserve will be open to visitors on weekends during this time, as well as during the Thanksgiving holiday, Nov. 26-28.
Savage Neck Dunes is located in Northampton County on the Chesapeake Bay. The 298-acre preserve is owned and managed by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
The hunts help reduce deer browsing and trampling of the preserve’s sensitive resources.
