Wilderness Road State Park master plan to be discussed Nov. 21
RICHMOND, Va. — A public meeting to discuss long-range planning for Virginia's Wilderness Road State Park will be Thursday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m., in the park’s visitor center.
Staff with the Department of Conservation and Recreation will provide an overview of the park’s revised master plan.
Each state park has a master plan that guides development. Plans are updated every five years and must be current before funds are allocated for new facilities.
The updated plan for Wilderness Road calls for construction of cabins, a campground, an enhanced group camp, a sprayground for children, an expanded trail system, a meeting facility and a re-created Cherokee town.
The park is at 8051 Wilderness Road, Ewing, Va., about 9 miles from the Kentucky border.
DCR manages the Virginia state park system.
