Potomac Gorge Riverside Outcrop Barren – CEGL006491

Little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium var. scoparium) and sticky goldenrod (Solidago racemosa) are the two most constant and characteristic herbs of the Potomac Gorge Riverside Outcrop Barren community type.  These plants are growing on the bedrock terrace just downstream from Great Falls in Great Falls Park, Fairfax County.
