Potomac Gorge Riverside Outcrop Barren – CEGL006491

Sparsely vegetated riverside outcrop barrens on the flank of Mather Gorge, below Great Falls in the Potomac Gorge.  Flood return intervals in these communities vary from 0.5 years to more than 15 years, depending on elevation above mean river level.  Great Falls Park (National Park Service), Fairfax County.
