Umbrella-leaf (Diphylleia cymosa), a Southern Appalachian endemic that reaches its northern range limits on the Southern Blue Ridge of Virginia, is a characteristic species of high-elevation woodland seeps in the Balsam Mountains. Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
