Central Appalachian Montane Oak - Hickory Forest (Acidic Type) – CEGL008516

A fairly mature stand of acidic montane oak-hickory forest on the upper east slope of Beards Mountain, northeast of Douthat State Park in Bath County.  White snakeroot (Ageratina altissima var. altissima) and several graminoids are common in the herb layer.  Warm Spring Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
