Young stand of acidic montane oak-hickory forest on a steep upper slope of Shenandoah Mountain northwest of Deerfield in Augusta County.  White snakeroot (Ageratina altissima var. altissima) dominates the herb layer.  North River Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
