The Acidic Type of Central Appalachian Montane Oak - Hickory Forest typically occupies the upper dip slopes of sedimentary or metasedimentary ridges between 2000 and 4000 ft elevation.  This stand is on the upper southeast flank of Bald Mountain on the Northern Blue Ridge in Augusta County.  Blue Ridge Parkway.
