Central Appalachian Montane Oak - Hickory Forest (Acidic Type) – CEGL008516
The Acidic Type of Central Appalachian Montane Oak - Hickory Forest typically occurs on rather dry soils of intermediate fertility weathered from sandstone, siltstone, and phyllitic metasiltstone.  This stand is on the southeastern slope of Short Mountain, south of Edinburg Gap in the Massanutten Mountains, Shenandoah County.  Lee Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
