Large colony of interrupted fern (Claytosmunda claytoniana) emerging in the early-spring herb layer of a rich montane oak-hickory forest.  On east flank of Apple Orchard Mountain on the Northern Blue Ridge, Bedford County.  Glenwood-Pedlar Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
