Southern Appalachian Montane Mixed Oak Forest (Northern Red Oak - Chestnut Oak Submesic Type) – CEGL004817
Second-growth montane mixed oak forest on flats along the headwaters of Cressy Creek in the Iron Mountains, southeast of Sugar Grove, Smyth County.  This community type usually occurs between 2000 and 4000 ft elevation in the Southern Appalachians, where it is common on submesic slopes.  Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
