Dry-Mesic Calcareous Forest (Southern Ridge and Valley / Cumberlands Type) – CEGL007233
Dry-mesic calcareous forest on SW slope of Jesse Gap below Birch Knob on Pine Mountain, Dickenson County.  Stand is on a calcareous shale substrate.  It is co-dominated by several oaks and hickories and some tulip-poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera); wood nettle (Laportea canadensis) and white snakeroot (Ageratina altissima var. altissima) are common in the herb layer.  Clinch Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
