Shenandoah Valley Sinkhole Pond (Barratt's Sedge Type) – CEGL007857
Horseshoe Swamp is a unique sinkhole pond in the Maple Flats complex near Sherando in Augusta County.  It is dominated by huge clones of the Coastal Plain disjunct Barratt's sedge (Carex barrattii), with some dominance patches by the long-range northern disjunct, slender sedge (Carex lasiocarpa).  Glenwood-Pedlar Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
