Shenandoah Valley Sinkhole Pond (Typic Type) – CEGL007858

Deep Pond in the Maple Flats pond complex near Sherando, Augusta County.  The deeper central zone is dominated by needle spikerush (Eleocharis acicularis), while the rim in foreground is dominated by tall flat panic grass (Coleataenia rigidula var. rigidula).  Glenwood-Pedlar Ranger District, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
