Central Appalachian Mountain Pond (Buttonbush - Threeway Sedge Type) – CEGL003746

Large colony of black-fruited spikerush (Eleocharis melanocarpa) along edge of sinkhole pond at Deep Run Ponds State Natural Area Preserve in Rockingham County.  This species is one of several notable Coastal Plain disjuncts occurring in depression ponds of the Shenandoah Valley.
